A Quick Life Lesson
I was having a discussion with one of the closest friends I have in my real life, and he conveyed to me that he thought certain things going on in life seemed hopeless. For instance, my sister and I have only been fortunate enough to go to Japan because of scholarships from school that we have worked hard for. Currently, our school Financial Aid Office is having issues, so our friend was thinking that our chances of getting to Japan in time for school, or being able to survive the semester with so little money, seemed hopeless.

And yet when he told me that, I felt compelled to argue. I'll show you my reasoning by showing you what I told him. And this is something I have always firmly believed in:

But if you think that way, Jake (name changed), then you're automatically going to fail!
So even if there's pain at the end, I can't allow myself to just say, "Well, it's not gonna work probably, so too bad."
I have to hope for it, or what I am alive for?
Living for those happinesses and inspirations is one of the keys to true happiness, isn't it?
I know all the things I did in Japan that brought me such extreme happiness were the kind of things people told me to give up on.
But I didn't, and they worked out. Some didn't, but some did. And the ones that did were worth it.
I really believe that if you believe in something strongly enough and just know it can happen, don't allow yourself to doubt it, then it can happen.
Once you feel the doubt, then you're setting yourself up for failure.

There were people who didn't believe that my sister and I had gotten to do some of the awesome things we got to do while in Japan. And that's fine, because people should believe what they want to. But the important lesson to be learned from it was not that so and so did this or so and so did that.....The important lesson was that you don't have to be a rich, lucky girl from a big family to become successful in the place of your dreams.

The point was that even if you are one of the poorest people out there, if you work hard and have big enough dreams and really believe in them, they can come true. If you never lose sight of those dreams, they will come true.

I want people to know that, because I think all of us have a dream hidden inside us somewhere. And if all it takes is a matter of faith and trust that it can happen, than how hard is that? ^_^ Just keep on believing and dreaming. You'll get there someday.

I'm gonna keeping working my hardest too!

Goodnight,
Marysa

Thanks! &hearts

It's so easy to lose sight of them, isn't it? So easy to just feel like giving up and telling yourself it can't or won't happen.

It's when you really believe they can that they work out. There are certain people out there that I would love to see this message, because I think the reason why they're so unhappy or bitter is because they don't have that faith in themselves....And that's no way to live....

I have no doubt you guys can do it, because you've already accomplished and survived more than most people can ever imagine themselves doing.

Thanks so much for that, Haruka! I have faith we can do it too, because I know that even if I push myself to the limits, I'll make it out okay! And there are a lot of things waiting for us when we get back, so it's almost like we really can't pass it up! ^_^;;; People too, hahaha~

You couldn't have written a truer word. If you approach something with the attitude of, "Oh, I'll never be able to do this!" ... then you won't. As you say, you're setting yourself up for failure. You expect to fail, so you let every tiny delay and difficulty demoralize you and reinforce that belief until you end up giving up entirely.

Never give up.

^^ Thank you!

You really are! With that mindset, you can only fail. If it's not even real in your mind, then it can't be real on the outside! And you explained it perfectly!

In a way it's kind of sad that it's so easy to give up, isn't it? And I'm not saying I'm any kind of perfect, because I've definitely given up before or lost hope. But there are certain things in my life that are so important to me or that I just know are right or believe in that I can't give up on! And that's why, say, when people were saying it would be illogical of me to go to Japan considering my financial situation, even though it made me feel down at times, I didn't give up! And the four months I spent in Japan last Spring were probably the best four months of my life. I learned a lot about myself and my life in general, and I found a new, true home for me too!

I just wanna encourage people to understand that it's never hopeless, even when it really seems like it might be. With that last ounce of hope and faith, you could really conquer the worst of doubts or impossibilities!

Never give up is right! ^_^v

Hahaha, noo, you're awesome! :P

I really believe that though. It's like a feeling deep inside, that I know it can work out if I just have the faith that it will. Willpower is a truly extraordinary thing, isn't it? &hearts
